The United States has long been one of the leading countries in attracting human resources due to reasonable economic development and social security policies. That is why, every year, a large number of citizens from all over the world want to find opportunities in this world’s number one economy.
In recent years, due to great demand, the number of applications for US immigration programs has begun to have a backlog, along with a new law on immigrant visas that has just been approved by the US government. The past may make the path to US settlement no longer as easy as before. Let’s find out more details with Westlife in the article below.
Important changes that US settlers need to know
In 2019, the new immigration law will officially take effect, which will have a significant impact on the two most popular US immigration programs today, EB-3 and EB-5.
Currently, the EB-5 minimum investment is $500,000 for projects located in a key unemployment area (TEA) and $1,000,000 for non-TEA projects. However, after 11/21/2019, when the new law comes into effect, the standard minimum investment will increase from 1,000,000 USD to 1,800,000 USD, to balance with inflation. The law also keeps the minimum investment differential of 50% between TEAs and non-TEAs, so the minimum investment amount in TEAs will increase from $500,000 to $900,000. In addition, from now on the minimum investment will automatically adjust for inflation every 5 years. This is information that all investors need to know before planning to invest in a family settlement. Industry groups that do not require qualifications: working in farms, restaurants, hotels, craft facilities …
Benefits for foreign workers:

Enjoy all the same benefits as US citizens.
Children of employees will be exempted from school fees until the end of high school. Tuition fees at universities will be 40% cheaper than international students.

There is a developed and modern living environment.
Most Vietnamese when immigrating to the US under the EB-3 job category are in the group of unskilled workers, no qualifications are required. This was once considered the optimal route to immigrate to the US, due to its low cost but the same benefits as the EB-5 investment. However, recent policies of US President Donald Trump have made immigration through EB-3 increasingly difficult. For employment-based settlements, Trump’s policy in 2019 will be to give full priority to workers with qualifications and expertise. For that reason, Vietnamese workers will soon face fierce competition from countries with high-quality labor sources, typically India.
